Tiroiditis subaguda - Symptom

Síntomas:

El síntoma más obvio de la tiroiditis subaguda es el dolor en el cuello. Algunas veces, el dolor puede extenderse (irradiarse) a la mandíbula o a los oídos. El agrandamiento doloroso de la glándula tiroidea puede durar semanas o meses.

Otros síntomas abarcan:

  • Dificultad para deglutir
  • Fatiga
  • Fiebre
  • Ronquera
  • Sensibilidad al ejercer presión suave en la glándula tiroides (palpación)
  • Debilidad

Los síntomas de exceso de hormona tiroidea (hipertiroidismo) pueden abarcar:

Posteriormente, se pueden presentar síntomas de muy poca hormona tiroidea (hipotiroidismo), como:

  • Intolerancia al frío
  • Estreñimiento
  • Fatiga

Normalmente, la función de la glándula tiroides retorna a la normalidad, pero en algunos casos el hipotiroidismo puede ser permanente.

Los exámenes de laboratorio en la fase tardía de la enfermedad pueden mostrar:

  • Nivel alto de hormona estimulante de la tiroides en suero
  • T4 libre baja en suero

Puede haber bajos niveles de anticuerpos antitiroideos. La biopsia de la glándula tiroides generalmente no es necesaria, pero mostrará una inflamación característica de esta enfermedad. Los exámenes de laboratorio deben normalizarse a medida que la afección desaparece.
