Osteomalacia - Treatment

Tratamiento:

El tratamiento puede consistir en suplementos orales de vitamina D, calcio y fósforo. Es posible que se necesiten dosis más grandes de vitamina D y calcio para personas que no puedan absorber apropiadamente los nutrientes dentro de los intestinos.

Igualmente, se pueden requerir exámenes regulares de sangre para el control de los niveles sanguíneos de fósforo y calcio en personas con ciertas afecciones subyacentes.

Expectativas (pronóstico):

El mejoramiento se puede observar en cuestión de unas pocas semanas en algunas personas con problemas de deficiencia vitamínica. La curación completa con tratamiento tiene lugar en 6 meses.

Complicaciones:

La reaparición de los síntomas es una complicación posible.

Situaciones que requieren asistencia médica:

Solicite una cita con el médico si tiene síntomas de osteomalacia o si cree que puede estar en riesgo de padecerla.
