Tiroiditis indolora silenciosa

Definición:

Es una inflamación de la glándula tiroides que se caracteriza por hipertiroidismo   transitorio, seguido de hipotiroidismo  y luego de recuperación.

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

Se desconoce la causa de este tipo de tiroiditis . La enfermedad afecta con más frecuencia a las mujeres que a los hombres y por lo general se desarrolla entre los 13 y 80 años. Los síntomas son los mismos del hipertiroidismo (hiperactividad de la glándula tiroides) y pueden durar tres meses o menos.
