Hipogonadismo primario en hombres

Tratamiento:

Los suplementos de hormonas masculinas pueden tratar algunas formas de insuficiencia testicular. Los hombres que toman terapia de reemplazo de testosterona necesitan una vigilancia cuidadosa por parte de un médico, dado que la testosterona puede causar crecimiento excesivo de la glándula prostática y un aumento anormal de los glóbulos rojos.

El hecho de evitar la droga o actividad que está causando el problema puede llevar al retorno de la función testicular normal.

Pronóstico:

Muchas formas de insuficiencia testicular son irreversibles. La terapia de reemplazo hormonal puede ayudar a contrarrestar los síntomas, aunque puede no restituir la fertilidad.

Posibles complicaciones:

La insuficiencia testicular que comienza antes de la pubertad detendrá el crecimiento normal del cuerpo. Puede impedir el desarrollo de características masculinas adultas (como la voz gruesa y la barba).
