Tratamiento:

Se requiere una dieta completamente libre de grasa.

Expectativas (pronóstico):

Los síntomas tienden a disminuir enormemente cuando los pacientes siguen una dieta libre de grasas.

Complicaciones:

Cuando no hay tratamiento, el exceso de quilomicrones puede llevar a que se presenten episodios de pancreatitis, los cuales pueden ser extremadamente dolorosos. Parece ser que no hay aumento en el riesgo de padecer cardiopatía ateroesclerótica.

Situaciones que requieren asistencia médica:

Se debe consultar al médico si se presentan algunos de los síntomas asociados con este síndrome y no se han medido los niveles de triglicéridos en la sangre o es el momento de hacerse el examen físico de rutina.
