Síndrome ectópico de Cushing

Tratamiento:

El mejor tratamiento para el síndrome de Cushing ectópico es la cirugía para extirpar el tumor, lo cual generalmente es posible cuando éste no es canceroso ( benigno).

En algunos casos, el tumor es canceroso y se disemina a otras áreas del cuerpo antes de que el médico pueda descubrir el problema con la producción de cortisol. La cirugía puede no ser posible en estos casos, pero el médico puede recetar fármacos para bloquear la producción de cortisol.

Expectativas (pronóstico):

La cirugía para extirpar el tumor puede conducir a la recuperación total, pero hay una probabilidad de que el tumor regrese.

Complicaciones:

El tumor se puede diseminar o retornar después de la cirugía y los niveles altos de cortisol pueden continuar.

Situaciones que requieren asistencia médica:

La persona debe consultar con el médico si presenta síntomas del síndrome de Cushing.
