Tratamiento:

El tratamiento puede involucrar la extracción del líquido para aliviar la presión dentro de la articulación. Se coloca una aguja en la articulación y se extrae (aspira) el líquido.

Las inyecciones con esteroides pueden servir para tratar articulaciones gravemente inflamadas y, algunas veces, se utiliza un tratamiento con esteroides orales cuando hay múltiples articulaciones con inflamación.

Los medicamentos antinflamatorios no esteroides (AINES) pueden ayudar a aliviar los episodios dolorosos y la colchicina puede servir en algunas personas.

Expectativas (pronóstico):

La mayoría de las personas tienen un buen pronóstico con tratamiento.

Complicaciones:

Se puede presentar daño articular permanente si no se hace tratamiento.

Situaciones que requieren asistencia médica:
