Gota crónica
Definición:
La gota es una enfermedad que involucra depósitos de ácido úrico en las articulaciones y que causa dolor, especialmente en las articulaciones de las piernas y los pies. La gota crónica implica episodios repetitivos de dolor articular.

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:
La gota es causada por una sobreproducción de ácido úrico o una reducción de la capacidad del riñón para eliminarlo, sin embargo, su causa exacta se desconoce. Este trastorno es más común en los hombres, mujeres posmenopáusicas y personas que sufren de hipertensión. Igualmente, el consumo excesivo de alcohol, la diabetes, la obesidad, la anemia drepanocÃtica y la enfermedad renal aumentan el riesgo.
Esta afección también se puede desarrollar en personas que toman medicamentos que interfieren con la excreción del ácido úrico.
