Púrpura de Henoch-Schoenlein

Definición:

Es una enfermedad que consiste en puntos de color púrpura en la piel, dolor articular, problemas gastrointestinales y glomerulonefritis (un tipo de trastorno renal).

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

La púrpura de Henoch-Schoenlein es un tipo de vasculitis por hipersensibilidad y de respuesta inflamatoria en los vasos sanguíneos, producida por una respuesta anormal del sistema inmunitario. La razón para que esto ocurra no es clara.

El síndrome usualmente se observa en niños, pero puede afectar a personas de cualquier edad y es más común en los niños que en las niñas. Muchas personas con esta enfermedad han tenido una afección en las vías respiratorias altas en las semanas previas.
