Síndrome de Felty - All Information

Definición:

Es un raro trastorno que involucra artritis reumatoidea, hinchazón del bazo, disminución del conteo de glóbulos blancos e infecciones repetitivas.

Causas:

La causa del síndrome de Felty se desconoce. Es más común en personas que han padecido artritis reumatoidea por mucho tiempo. Las personas con este síndrome están en riesgo de infección debido a que tienen un bajo conteo de glóbulos blancos sanguíneos.

Síntomas:

  • Sensación de malestar general (malestar)
  • Fatiga
  • Inapetencia
  • Pérdida involuntaria de peso
  • Piel pálida
  • Rigidez, dolor, deformidad e inflamación articular
  • Infecciones recurrentes
  • Ardor o secreción del ojo

Pruebas y exámenes:

Un examen físico mostrará:

  • Inflamación del bazo
  • Articulaciones que muestran signos de artritis reumatoidea
  • Hígado y ganglios linfáticos posiblemente inflamados

Un conteo sanguíneo completo ( CSC) puede mostrar una disminución en el número de glóbulos blancos llamados neutrófilos.

Una ecografía abdominal puede confirmar la inflamación del bazo.

Tratamiento:

Las personas con este síndrome por lo regular ya se encuentran bajo tratamiento para la artritis reumatoidea y pueden necesitar medicamentos adicionales para inhibir su sistema inmunitario.

Algunas personas se pueden beneficiar de la extirpación del bazo ( esplenectomía).

Pronóstico:

Es probable que la artritis reumatoidea empeore.

Posibles complicaciones:

Se pueden presentar infecciones que siguen reapareciendo.
