Codo de tenista

Definición:

Es una inflamación y dolor en el lado exterior (lateral) de la parte superior del brazo cerca al codo. Es posible que se presente un desgarro parcial de las fibras tendinosas, que conectan el músculo al hueso, en o cerca a su punto de origen en la parte exterior del codo.

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

Esta lesión se debe a los movimientos repetitivos de la muñeca o del antebrazo y está clásicamente asociada con la práctica del tenis, de ahí el nombre "codo de tenista". Sin embargo, cualquier actividad que involucre el retorcimiento repetitivo de la muñeca, como usar un destornillador, puede ocasionar esta afección.
