Enfermedad de Still en la adultez; AOSD

Definición:

Es una enfermedad poco común caracterizada por fiebres altas y agudas, erupción cutánea y dolor articular, que puede llevar a que se presente artritis prolongada (crónica).

Se la conoce más comúnmente como enfermedad de Still de inicio en la adultez (AOSD, por sus siglas en inglés).

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

Menos de 1 de cada 100.000 personas desarrollan la enfermedad de Still del adulto cada año y es una dolencia que afecta a las mujeres con más frecuencia que a los hombres.

La enfermedad de Still que se presenta en niños se denomina artritis idiopática juvenil sistémica.

La causa de la enfermedad de Still del adulto se desconoce y no se han identificado sus factores de riesgo.
