Definición:

Es el término común para referirse a la capsulitis adhesiva, una afección inflamatoria que restringe el movimiento en el hombro.

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

La cápsula de la articulación del hombro incluye los ligamentos que fijan los huesos del hombro entre sí. Cuando se presenta inflamación dentro de la cápsula, dichos huesos son incapaces de moverse libremente dentro de la articulación.

La diabetes, un trauma en el hombro (incluyendo cirugía), antecedentes de cirugía a corazón abierto, hipertiroidismo y antecedentes de enfermedad discal cervical están asociados con un aumento en el riesgo de desarrollar este problema. A menudo, no hay una causa conocida.
