Definición:

Es un raro trastorno en el cual los conductos (uréteres) que trasportan la orina desde los riñones hasta la vejiga se encuentran bloqueados por una masa en el área por detrás del estómago y los intestinos.

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

La fibrosis retroperitoneal es un trastorno poco común que ocurre cuando se forma tejido fibroso adicional en el área por detrás del estómago y los intestinos. El exceso de tejido forma una masa (o masas) que puede obstruir los conductos que transportan la orina desde los riñones hasta la vejiga. Los médicos desconocen por qué se forman estas masas. Son más comunes en personas entre los 40 y 60 años de edad, y los hombres tienen el doble de probabilidades de desarrollar la afección que las mujeres.
