Síntomas:

Síntomas iniciales:

Dolor sordo en el abdomen que se incrementa con el tiempo
Dolor y cambio de color en las piernas (debido a la disminución de la circulación)
Inflamación de una pierna

Síntomas tardíos:

Disminución de la diuresis
Ausencia total de orina (anuria)
Náuseas, vómitos, cambios en el pensamiento causados por insuficiencia renal y la acumulación de químicos tóxicos en la sangre
Dolor abdominal intenso con hemorragia debido a muerte del tejido intestinal

Signos y exámenes:

La tomografía computarizada del abdomen es el mejor método para detectar la masa retroperitoneal.

Otros exámenes que pueden ayudar a diagnosticar esta afección abarcan:

Exámenes de BUN y creatinina en la sangre
Pielografía intravenosa (PIV)
Ecografía del riñón
Resonancia magnética del abdomen

También se puede hacer una biopsia de la masa para descartar cáncer.
