Síntomas:

Confusión o disminución de la lucidez mental
Fatiga
Deficiencia en el crecimiento
Aumento en la frecuencia respiratoria
Cálculos renales
Nefrocalcinosis
Osteomalacia
Raquitismo
Debilidad muscular

Otros síntomas pueden abarcar:

Dolor óseo
Disminución del gasto urinario
Aumento de la frecuencia cardíaca o latidos cardíacos irregulares
Calambres musculares
Dolor en la espalda, el costado o el abdomen
Anomalías esqueléticas

Signos y exámenes:

La gasometría arterial y las químicas sanguíneas pueden indicar acidosis metabólica o desequilibrios electrolíticos, con mucha frecuencia bajos niveles de potasio o bicarbonato.

Otros exámenes que se pueden hacer abarcan:

pH de la orina, generalmente mayor a 5.0 en pacientes con esta afección
Un análisis de orina puede mostrar incremento en los niveles de calcio y potasio
