Definición:

Es una irritación de la vejiga que no es causada por una infección urinaria.

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

La cistitis no infecciosa es más común en las mujeres en edad fértil y a menudo se desconoce su causa exacta. Sin embargo, ha sido asociada con el uso de baños de espuma, aerosoles para la higiene femenina, toallas sanitarias, gelatinas espermicidas, radioterapia en el área de la pelvis, quimioterapia con cierto tipo de medicamentos y otros irritantes.

Ciertos alimentos como tomates, edulcorantes artificiales, productos con cafeína, chocolate y alcohol pueden causar síntomas irritativos en la vejiga.
