Cáncer del uréter o pelvis renal - Treatment

Cáncer de células transicionales de la pelvis renal o del uréter

Tratamiento:

El objetivo del tratamiento es eliminar el cáncer.

Generalmente se puede recomendar la cirugía para extirpar todo o parte del riñón (nefrectomía). Esto puede incluir una extirpación parcial de la vejiga y de los tejidos circundantes o de los ganglios linfáticos. Si el tumor está en el uréter, es posible extirparlo y preservar el riñón.

Cuando el cáncer se ha diseminado por fuera del riñón o del uréter, a menudo, se utiliza la quimioterapia. Dado que estos tumores son similares a una forma de cáncer de vejiga, se tratan con un tipo similar de quimioterapia.

Expectativas (pronóstico):

El pronóstico varía dependiendo de la localización del tumor y de si el cáncer se ha diseminado o no. El cáncer localizado únicamente en el riñón o en el uréter se puede curar con cirugía.

El cáncer que se ha diseminado a otros órganos generalmente es incurable, aunque hay excepciones.

Complicaciones:

  • Insuficiencia renal
  • Diseminación local del tumor con aumento del dolor
  • Diseminación del cáncer
