Leucemia linfocítica crónica (LLC) - Symptom

Síntomas:

Generalmente, los síntomas se desarrollan lentamente con el tiempo. Muchos casos de LLC se detectan por medio de exámenes de sangre hechos en personas por otras razones o que no tienen ningún síntoma.

Los pacientes con leucemia linfocítica crónica por lo regular tienen un conteo de glóbulos blancos más alto de lo normal.

Los exámenes para diagnosticar y evaluar este tipo de leucemia abarcan:

Si el médico descubre que usted padece LLC, se harán exámenes para ver qué tanto se ha diseminado el cáncer. Esto se denomina estadificación.

Hay dos sistemas utilizados para clasificar este tipo de leucemia:

  • El sistema Rai utiliza números de 0 a IV para agrupar la leucemia linfocítica crónica en categorías de bajo, intermedio y alto riesgo. Generalmente, cuanto más alto sea el número de la etapa o estadio, más avanzado estará el cáncer.
  • El sistema Binet utiliza letras A-C para clasificar la LLC de acuerdo con la cantidad de grupos de ganglios linfáticos afectados y si se presenta o no una disminución en los glóbulos rojos o en las plaquetas.

Algunos exámenes más nuevos analizan los cromosomas en las células cancerosas. Los resultados pueden ayudarle al médico a determinar mejor el tratamiento.
