Anemia megaloblástica

Definición:

Es un trastorno sanguíneo caracterizado por anemia , con glóbulos rojos que son más grandes de lo normal, y es una afección que usualmente resulta de una deficiencia de ácido fólico o de vitamina B-12 .

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

Las deficiencias de vitamina B-12 y ácido fólico son las causas más comunes de la anemia megaloblástica. Otras causas son leucemia, mielofibrosis , mieloma múltiple , ciertos trastornos hereditarios, medicamentos que afectan la síntesis del ADN como los fármacos para quimioterapia y el consumo excesivo de alcohol, entre otras.
