Infección aguda por citomegalovirus

SÃntomas:
- Fiebre
- Dolor de garganta
- Agrandamiento de ganglios linfáticos, especialmente en el cuello
- Malestar (sensación vaga de enfermedad)
- Cansancio o fatiga frecuentes
- Pérdida del apetito
- Rigidez o dolores musculares
Los sÃntomas que se presentan con menos frecuencia son, entre otros:
- Ictericia (apariencia amarilla de la piel)
- Dolor de cabeza
- Rigidez del cuello
- Sensibilidad a la luz
- Tos
- Dificultad respiratoria
- Dolor en el pecho
- Frecuencia cardÃaca rápida
- Frecuencia cardÃaca irregular
- Urticaria
Signos y exámenes:
El médico llevará a cabo un examen fÃsico y palpará el área del abdomen. El hÃgado y el bazo pueden estar sensibles al presionarlos (palparlos) suavemente y puede haber una erupción cutánea.
Se hacen exámenes de laboratorio especiales para verificar la presencia de sustancias en la sangre que son producidas por el citomegalovirus. Esto incluye una prueba de anticuerpos ELISA para CMV y una prueba PCR en suero para CMV.
Una prueba de anticuerpos heterófilos debe ser negativa en la mononucleosis por CMV.
Los exámenes de sangre muestran un bajo número de plaquetas y un número alto de ciertos glóbulos blancos.
Un análisis bioquÃmico puede mostrar enzimas anormales del hÃgado.
