Es la disminución en el número de glóbulos rojos debido a la falta de vitamina B12 .

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

La vitamina B12 es esencial para el funcionamiento normal del sistema nervioso y para la producción normal de glóbulos sanguíneos y se encuentra principalmente en carnes, productos lácteos y huevos. Para que la vitamina B-12 sea absorbida por el cuerpo, debe estar ligada a un factor intrínseco , una proteína secretada por las células en el estómago.
