Reticuloendoteliosis leucémica; HCL; Leucemia de células peludas
Es un cáncer inusual de la sangre que afecta a las células B, un tipo de glóbulo blanco (linfocito).
La leucemia de células pilosas (LCP) es causada por la proliferación anormal de células B, las cuales presentan una apariencia "vellosa" bajo el microscopio, ya que tienen proyecciones finas que salen de su superficie.
La leucemia de células pilosas puede llevar a bajos conteos de células sanguíneas normales.
La causa de esta enfermedad se desconoce, afecta más a menudo a los hombres que a las mujeres y la edad promedio de diagnóstico es los 55 años.
