Siempre descarte las latas que presenten abultamientos o alimentos en conserva con mal olor. La esterilización de los alimentos empacados en el hogar, cocinándolos a presión a 120° C (250° F) durante 30 minutos puede prevenir el botulismo.
Conserve las papas (patatas) horneadas envueltas en papel aluminio calientes o en el refrigerador y no fuera a temperatura ambiente.
