Carbunco cutáneo - Treatment

Carbunco de la piel.

Tratamiento:

El carbunco cutáneo se trata con antibióticos, con mayor frecuencia doxiciclina y ciprofloxacina. Durante un brote de carbunco sospechoso, el antibiótico preferido ha sido la ciprofloxacina.

La duración del tratamiento generalmente es de 60 días, dado que las esporas del carbunco pueden tardar hasta 2 meses para germinar.

Pronóstico:

El pronóstico es excelente cuando se recibe tratamiento para el carbunco. Cuando los antibióticos se administran oportunamente la muerte es muy rara.

Posibles complicaciones:

En algunos casos, la infección puede diseminarse a través del torrente sanguíneo, llevando a que se presente shock y muerte.
