SÃntomas:
- Irritación de garganta
- Dificultad para deglutir
- Fiebre
- Ganglios linfáticos hinchados y sensibles en el cuello
Otros sÃntomas que pueden estar asociados con esta enfermedad son:
- Dolor en el cuello
- Secreción nasal
- Congestión nasal
- Dolor muscular
- Rigidez articular
- Dolor de cabeza
- Sentido del gusto alterado
Nota: es posible que no se presenten sÃntomas.
Signos y exámenes:
El resultado de un cultivo de garganta es positivo para el gonococo. Se debe observar si la gonorrea no aparece en la prueba estándar para gonococos en la garganta y el médico tiene que advertirle al laboratorio que se debe realizar un cultivo gonocócico. Si la persona piensa que podrÃa tener una faringitis gonocócica, debe comunicárselo a su médico.
