Infección por VIH

SÃntomas:
Se puede presentar cualquier sÃntoma de enfermedad, ya que las infecciones pueden ocurrir en todo el cuerpo. Entre los sÃntomas especiales relacionados con la infección por VIH están:
- Irritación de la garganta
- Úlceras bucales, incluyendo infección por Candida
- Rigidez o dolor muscularÂ
- Dolor de cabeza
- Diarrea
- Inflamación de los ganglios linfáticos
- Fiebre
- Fatiga
- Erupción cutánea de varios tipos, incluyendo dermatitis seborreica
- Infecciones vaginales frecuentes por levadura
Nota: en el momento del diagnóstico de la infección con VIH, muchas personas no han experimentado ninguno de los sÃntomas.
Signos y exámenes:
- Un ELISA/inmunoblot para VIH puede mostrar anticuerpos positivos para VIH. Si el resultado es negativo y el paciente tiene un factor de riesgo definitivo para la infección por VIH, el examen se debe repetir en 3 meses.
- El conteo de CD4 inferior a lo normal puede mostrar la supresión del sistema inmune por parte del virus.
- La carga viral ARN del VIH indica la cantidad del virus en el torrente sanguÃneo
- Un diferencial sanguÃneo puede mostrar anomalÃas.
