Meningitis causada por neumococos

Prevención:

El tratamiento oportuno de la neumonía e infecciones del oído causadas por el neumococo puede disminuir el riesgo de contraer meningitis. Igualmente, hay disponibilidad de dos vacunas efectivas para la prevención de la infección por neumococo.

De acuerdo con las recomendaciones actuales, las siguientes personas deben ser vacunadas:

Niños
Cualquier persona mayor de 65 años
Personas en alto riesgo de infección por el neumococo
