Fiebre Q (temprana) - Tratamiento

Tratamiento:

El tratamiento con antibióticos puede reducir el tiempo de duración de la enfermedad y entre los más comúnmente usados están la tetraciclina y la doxiciclina. La tetraciclina administrada por vía oral no se debe usar con niños cuyos dientes aún se están formando, ya que puede decolorar de manera permanente la dentición que está creciendo.

Expectativas (pronóstico):

La recuperación ocurre incluso sin tratamiento. Sin embargo, la complicaciones pueden ser muy graves y algunas veces incluso potencialmente mortales, por lo que se recomienda el tratamiento del trastorno siempre que se reconozca como la causa de los síntomas.

Complicaciones:

  • Reaparición de la infección.
  • Endocarditis (infección de las válvulas cardíacas)
  • Hepatitis crónica (infección del hígado)
  • Encefalitis (infección del cerebro)
  • Osteomielitis (infección ósea)
  • Neumonía (infección pulmonar)

Situaciones que requieren asistencia médica:

Se debe solicitar asistencia médica si se presentan síntomas de fiebre Q, si los síntomas reaparecen después del tratamiento médico o si se presentan nuevos síntomas.
