Erisipela - Overview

Definición:

Es un tipo de infección de la piel ( celulitis).

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

La erisipela generalmente es causada por las bacterias estreptococos del grupo A y puede afectar tanto a niños como a adultos.

Dentro de los factores de riesgo se encuentran:

Un corte en la piel
Problemas con el drenaje a través de las venas o el sistema linfático
Úlceras cutáneas

En el pasado, la cara era el sitio de infección más común, pero ahora representa sólo alrededor del 20% de los casos. Las piernas resultan afectadas en el 80% de los casos.
