Síntomas:

Nota: los síntomas generalmente tienen un comienzo súbito y empeora rápidamente.

Signos y exámenes:

La persona puede estar en  shock , con palidez generalizada, extremidades frías,  presión sanguínea baja  y frecuencia cardíaca rápida . Se puede sentir aire en los tejidos ( crepitantes ). Se puede desarrollar infección que comprometa todo el organismo (toxicidad sistémica o sepsis ). Así mismo, es probable encontrar la piel de color amarilla ( ictericia ) asociada con la excesiva destrucción de las células sanguíneas.
