Otitis externa aguda; Infección aguda en el oído externo

Síntomas:

  • Dolor de oído que puede empeorar al halar la oreja
  • Prurito en el oído o en el conducto auditivo externo
  • Drenaje del oído, de color amarillo, verde amarillento, con pus o con olor fétido

Signos y exámenes:

El médico llevará a cabo un examen físico, que incluye la observación del interior de los oídos. El oído, incluyendo el conducto auditivo externo, aparece enrojecido e inflamado y la piel dentro del conducto puede estar escamosa o mudándose.

La palpación o manipulación del oído externo aumenta el dolor. La visualización del tímpano con el otoscopio puede ser difícil de lograr para el médico debido a la inflamación del oído externo.

El médico puede tomar una muestra del líquido del oído y enviarla a un laboratorio, de tal forma que se pueda identificar cualquier tipo de bacterias u hongos.
