Candidiasis bucal - Síntomas

Síntomas:

La candidiasis bucal aparece como placas blandas de color blanquecino en la boca y en la lengua. Debajo de este material blanquecino, se presenta enrojecimiento que puede sangrar y las lesiones pueden aumentar lentamente en número y tamaño.

Si la persona está inmunocomprometida (por ejemplo, es VIH positiva o recibe quimioterapia), la infección se puede diseminar a otros órganos, como el esófago (causando dolor al deglutir), o por todo el cuerpo, lo cual puede ser mortal.

Signos y exámenes:

El médico o el odontólogo casi siempre pueden diagnosticar la candidiasis bucal observando la boca y la lengua, ya que estas lesiones micóticas tienen una apariencia distintiva. Si no está claro del todo, se puede llevar a cabo uno de los siguientes exámenes para buscar los organismos cándida:

Examen microscópico de raspados bucales
Cultivo de lesiones bucales

Candida, coloración fluorescente
