Síntomas:

Las infecciones leves pueden ser asintomáticas, pero las infecciones más graves pueden causar los siguientes síntomas:

  • Fiebre
  • Irritabilidad
  • Dolor abdominal
  • Prurito cutáneo (urticaria)
  • Tos
  • Dificultad para respirar
  • Sibilancias

En caso de producirse una infección ocular, se pueden presentar síntomas como ojos bizcos (estrabismo) y pérdida de la visión.

Signos y exámenes:

Si se presenta la larva migratoria visceral, la persona puede tener niveles de glóbulos blancos superiores a lo normal.

Las personas con esta afección también pueden tener signos de inflamación del hígado, erupción cutánea y problemas pulmonares u oculares.

Se puede hacer un examen de sangre para detectar y diagnosticar la infección.
