Prevención:

Usted puede reducir el riesgo de infecciones del oído de su hijo poniendo en práctica lo siguiente:

Lave las manos y juguetes frecuentemente.
Si es posible, escoja una guardería que tenga una clase con 6 niños o menos, ya que esto puede reducir los riesgos del niño de contraer un resfriado o una infección similar y esto, a su vez, lleva a menos infecciones de oído.
Evite el uso de biberones.
Amamante al niño, ya que esto lo hace mucho menos propenso a las infecciones del oído. Pero si alimenta al niño con biberón, sosténgalo en posición de sentado y erguido.
No exponga al niño al humo indirecto del tabaco.
Constate que las vacunas del niño estén al día. La vacuna antineumocócica evita las infecciones por las bacterias que más comúnmente ocasionan las infecciones agudas del oído y muchas infecciones respiratorias.
Evite el uso excesivo de antibióticos, ya que esto puede llevar a que se presente resistencia a ellos.
