Infección por micobacterias atÃpicas
Definición:
Es una enfermedad causada por un tipo de micobacteria diferente a la tuberculosis .

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:
Las micoabcterias atÃpicas pueden causar una gran variedad de infecciones tales como abscesos , artritis séptica y osteomielitis (infección de los huesos) e igualmente pueden infectar los pulmones, el tracto gastrointestinal, los ganglios linfáticos, la piel y los tejidos blandos.
Hay muchas especies diferentes de micobacterias distintas a la de la tuberculosis ( Mycobacterium tuberculosis ) y algunas de las más comunes aparecen en la siguiente lista:
- M. avium intracellulare que afecta con frecuencia a los pacientes con SIDA y causa enfermedad pulmonar
- M. marinum que ocasiona infecciones cutáneas y también es responsable del granuloma de las piscinas
- M. ulcerans que ocasiona infecciones cutáneas
- M. kansasi i que causa enfermedad pulmonar
La infección por micobacterias atÃpicas es poco frecuente, pero la tasa se encuentra en aumento debido al incremento de la población con SIDA. Los grupos de población en riesgo comprenden aquellos individuos con enfermedad pulmonar y sistemas inmunitarios debilitados ( inmunodepresión ).
