Prevención:

Hay disponibilidad de una vacuna contra el carbunco para personal militar seleccionado de los Estados Unidos, pero no para el público general.

A las personas que han estado realmente expuestas al carbunco, pero que no presentan signos ni síntomas de la enfermedad, se les puede suministrar antibióticos preventivos.

No se conocen casos de transmisión del carbunco de una persona a otra. Las personas que viven con individuos con carbunco no requieren antibióticos, a menos que también hayan estado expuestas a la misma fuente de esta enfermedad.
