Definición:

Es una infección candidiásica del esófago, el conducto que lleva el alimento desde la boca hasta el estómago.

Causas:

La esofagitis por cándida es causada por el hongo levaduriforme cándida y ocurre cuando éste se disemina desde la boca hacia abajo por el esófago.

La afección con frecuencia es una señal de un sistema inmunitario debilitado. Los siguientes factores aumentan el riesgo de infecciones por cándida:

Si usted tiene un sistema inmunitario debilitado, la candidosis bucal lo hace más susceptible a contraer esofagitis por cándida.
