Prevención:

La prevención del SIDA ayuda a evitar las infecciones oportunistas, como las causadas por el citomegalovirus. Las infecciones oportunistas son infecciones causadas por organismos que normalmente no son patógenos, pero que se aprovechan de una situación, como en el caso de un daño en el sistema inmune. Los personas con SIDA que son tratadas de manera efectiva con terapia antirretroviral tienen mucha menos probabilidad de contraer la infección por CMV.
