Esofagitis por citomegalovirus

Tratamiento:

El tratamiento consiste en medicamentos antivirales que se administran a través de una vena ( intravenosos), como ganciclovir o foscarnet. En algunos casos, a los pacientes se les administra un antiviral denominado valganciclovir que se toma por vía oral.

Algunas personas con esta afección también necesitan analgésicos.

Muchas personas que reciben tratamiento para un episodio de esofagitis por CMV toman un medicamento para inhibir este virus por un tiempo prolongado.

Pronóstico:

La esofagitis por lo general se puede tratar en forma efectiva. El pronóstico depende del problema con el sistema inmunitario que hace a la persona más susceptible de contraer una infección.

Posibles complicaciones:

Infección en otros sitios
Orificios en el esófago (perforaciones)
Infección recurrente

Consulte con el médico si desarrolla síntomas de esofagitis por CMV, especialmente si tiene un sistema inmunitario deprimido.
