Prevención:

La abstinencia es la única forma segura de prevención, aunque hay otras formas de prevención como practicar el sexo seguro o sostener relaciones monogámicas con un compañero libre de la enfermedad.

Los condones de látex ayudan a proteger contra la gonorrea y otras enfermedades de transmisión sexual cuando no se sabe el estado de salud de la pareja.

Es esencial el tratamiento de todas las parejas sexuales de una persona con infección comprobada para prevenir una posterior diseminación o recurrencia de la infección.
