Prevención:

La abstinencia es la única forma segura de prevención. Otra forma de prevención consiste en tener relaciones sexuales con precaución. Asimismo, sostener relaciones monogámicas con un compañero libre de la enfermedad y conocido es otra forma de prevención.

Los condones de látex protegen contra la gonorrea y otras enfermedades de transmisión sexual cuando no se conoce el estado de la pareja.

Es esencial el tratamiento de todas las parejas sexuales de una persona con infección comprobada para prevenir una posterior diseminación o reinfección.
