Faringitis bacteriana; Dolor de garganta

Definición:

La faringitis, o dolor de garganta, es la molestia, el dolor o la carraspera en la garganta que a menudo hace que tragar sea doloroso.

Causas:

La faringitis es causada por hinchazón (inflamación) de la faringe, la cual está en la parte posterior de la garganta, entre las amígdalas y la laringe.

La mayoría de los dolores de garganta son causados por una infección viral, como resfriado o gripe. Algunos virus pueden causar tipos específicos de dolor de garganta, tales como la infección de coxsackie o la mononucleosis.

Las bacterias que pueden causar la faringitis abarcan estreptococos del grupo A, que llevan a la amigdalitis estreptocócica en algunos casos.

Otras bacterias menos comunes que causan dolores de garganta comprenden Corynebacterium, gonorrea y clamidia.

La mayoría de los casos de faringitis ocurre durante los meses más fríos y la enfermedad con frecuencia se propaga entre los miembros de la familia.
