Faringitis - Síntomas

Síntomas:

  • Dolor de garganta
  • La faringitis estreptocócica puede estar acompañada por fiebre, dolor de cabeza y ganglios linfáticos inflamados en el cuello.
  • La faringitis viral puede estar asociada con rinorrea y exudado retronasal.
  • Los casos graves de faringitis pueden estar acompañados por dificultad para deglutir y, rara vez, por dificultad para respirar.
  • Los síntomas adicionales dependen de los organismos causantes de la infección.

Signos y exámenes:

El médico llevará a cabo un examen de la faringe para buscar drenaje o recubrimiento. Igualmente, se pueden examinar la piel, los ojos y los ganglios linfáticos del cuello.

Si el médico piensa que la persona podría tener faringitis estreptocócica, se puede realizar un examen para estreptococo o un cultivo de exudado faríngeo. Se pueden llevar a cabo cultivos de exudado faríngeo adicionales o exámenes de sangre dependiendo de la causa de la cual se sospeche.
