Uretritis masculina por clamidia - Overview

Definición:

Es una enfermedad transmitida sexualmente que consiste en la infección de la uretra (el tubo que drena la orina desde la vejiga).

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

La uretritis por clamidia es causada por la bacteria Chlamydia trachomatis.

La clamidia puede causar un tipo de hinchazón (inflamación) de la uretra ( uretritis). La clamidia y la gonorrea a menudo se presentan juntas.

Las personas sexualmente activas y aquellas con múltiples compañeros sexuales tienen el mayor riesgo de infección por clamidia.

Las diferentes cepas de clamidia causan infecciones genitales, oculares, de los ganglios linfáticos y respiratorias. Un niño nacido de una mujer con una infección del cuello uterino por clamidia puede desarrollar una infección ocular o pulmonar.
