Neumonía por CMV; Neumonía a causa del citomegalovirus

Prevención:

Se ha demostrado que los siguientes factores ayudan a prevenir la neumonía por CMV en algunos pacientes:

  • Empleo de donantes para trasplante de órganos que no tengan CMV
  • Empleo de hemoderivados para transfusión negativos para CMV
  • Empleo de inmunoglobulina para CMV en ciertos pacientes

La prevención del SIDA evita que se puedan presentar enfermedades oportunistas, como el CMV, en personas con un sistema inmunitario dañado o que está funcionando en forma deficiente. Las personas con SIDA que tengan un conteo de CD4 de menos de 100 deben considerar la posibilidad de tomar un tratamiento preventivo para CMV.
