Otitis externa maligna - Symptom

Síntomas:

Drenaje del oído persistente, de color amarillo o verde amarillento y con olor fétido
Dolor de oído que se siente en lo profundo de éste y puede empeorar al mover la cabeza
Hipoacusia
Prurito en el oído o en el conducto auditivo externo
Fiebre
Dificultad para deglutir
Debilidad en la cara
Pérdida de la voz

Signos y exámenes:

El médico examinará el oído en búsqueda de signos de una infección del oído externo (otitis externa). La zona de la cabeza alrededor y detrás del oído puede ser sensible al tacto. Un examen del sistema nervioso (neurológico) puede revelar que los pares craneales están afectados.

Si hay algún flujo, el médico puede enviar una muestra al laboratorio para realizar un cultivo, con el propósito de buscar hongos o bacterias, generalmente las pseudomonas.

Para buscar señales de una infección del hueso adyacente al conducto auditivo externo, se pueden realizar los siguientes exámenes:
