Demencia de origen metabólico
Definición:
Es un deterioro de la función mental provocado por diversos trastornos del metabolismo .
Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:
La demencia asociada con trastornos metabólicos puede causar confusión reversible o irreversible y cambios en el intelecto o razonamiento.
Algunas de las causas metabólicas de demencia son:
- Trastornos endocrinos

- trastornos de ácido/base de cualquier tipo
- trastornos electrolÃticos de los lÃquidos de cualquier tipo
- hiponatremia
- hipercalcemia
- insuficiencia renal , con uremia
- enfermedad hepática

- deficiencia de vitamina B1
- deficiencia de vitamina B12
- pelagra
- desnutrición protéica o calórica
