Tratamiento:

No existe cura conocida para la distrofia muscular facioescapulohumeral y los tratamientos se administran para controlar los síntomas y mejorar la calidad de vida. Se recomienda fomentar la actividad, ya que la inactividad, como permanecer en cama, puede empeorar la enfermedad muscular. También la fisioterapia puede ayudar a mantener la fuerza muscular.

Expectativas (pronóstico):

La discapacidad con frecuencia es menor y el período de vida generalmente no resulta afectado.

Complicaciones:

  • Disminución de la movilidad
  • Disminución de la capacidad para cuidar de sí mismo
  • Deformidades de la cara y los hombros
  • Hipoacusia
  • Pérdida de la visión (poco común)
