Migraña - Prevención

Prevención:

  • Evitar el cigarrillo
  • Evitar el alcohol
  • Hacer ejercicios regularmente
  • Dormir lo suficiente todas las noches
  • Aprender a relajarse y a reducir el estrés. Ensayar con relajación muscular progresiva (contrayendo y relajando los músculos de todo el cuerpo), hacer meditación, biorregulación o participar en grupos de apoyo.

Si la persona sufre de al menos tres dolores de cabeza al mes, el médico puede prescribir medicamentos para ayudar a prevenir la recurrencia de las migrañas.

Algunos de estos medicamentos de prescripción son:

  • Betabloqueantes como el propanolol (Inderal)
  • Antidepresivos incluyendo los tricíclicos como la amitriptilina (Elavil) o los inhibidores selectivos de la recaptación de la serotonina (ISRS) como la fluoxetina (Prozac, Sarafem), paroxetina (Paxil) o la sertralina (Zoloft)
  • Anticonvulsivantes como el ácido valproico (Depacon, Depakene), divalproex sódico (Depakote) o topiramato (Topamax)
  • Antagonistas del calcio como el verapamilo
