Hemorragia intracerebral profunda
Definición:
Una hemorragia intracerebral profunda es un tipo de accidente cerebrovascular provocado por sangrado dentro de las estructuras profundas del cerebro como el tálamo, los ganglios basales, el puente de Varolio y el cerebelo.

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:
La hemorragia intracerebral profunda puede afectar a cualquier persona sin distinción de edad, sexo o raza aunque es más común en las personas mayores. Puede ser causada por traumatismo craneal, sangrado en un tumor o problemas en los vasos sanguÃneos (como aneurisma cerebral o angioma) o en la coagulación sanguÃnea. En algunos casos, no se puede encontrar la causa.
El sangrado irrita los tejidos del cerebro causando hinchazón (edema cerebral) y la sangre se puede acumular formando una masa (hematoma). Tanto el edema cerebral como la presencia de un hematoma dentro del cerebro ejercen mayor presión sobre los tejidos y finalmente los destruyen.
Los factores de riesgo para una hemorragia intracerebral profunda abarcan:

Diversos
trastornos de sangrado
o de la sangre
- coagulación intravascular diseminada (CID)
- hemofilia
- anemia drepanocÃtica
- leucemia
- disminución de las plaquetas en la sangre
- Uso de aspirina o medicamentos anticoagulantes (diluyentes de sangre)
- Enfermedad hepática (asociada con aumento del riesgo de sangrado)
